wp:paragraph Wärtsilä has supplied a 125 MW/250 MWh battery energy storage system to a REV Renewables project in California. /wp:paragraph wp:paragraph The LeConte battery storage facility, located in Calexico, is situated at a major junction point for energy producers in the California Independent System Operator and San Diego Gas & Electric territories that are importing and exporting energy between the U.S. and Mexico. /wp:paragraph wp:paragraph The facility will be used to follow the automatic generation control signal to maintain system frequency and perform peak day operations to relieve congestion on transmission lines from the abundance of solar PV resources in the area.
